Almaty. January 24. Silkroadnews – Kabul and Islamabad discussed mutual trade and transit issues, Afghan news agency (AfTAG) informs.

“The Afghan delegation headed by Ministry of Defense Advisor and civil activist Wazhma Frogh met with representatives of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) to discuss the complexities of trade and transit between the two countries”, the agency reported.

The representative of Afghanistan said on the inadmissibility of the Afghan goods delays at the Pakistani customs, to which the FPCCI representatives promised they will do everything possible to speed up the Afghan goods customs clearance.

As AfTAG reminds, the customs clearance for fresh fruits from Afghanistan used to be delayed for weeks within the recent years resulting in multi-million dollar losses by the Afghan entrepreneurs and reorientation of exports to the Iranian port of Chabahar. As a result, the trade turnover between Afghanistan and Pakistan declined from $2.5 to $1.5 billion.
