Karzai refused to participate in NATO summit
Almaty. August 28. Silkroadnews - Incumbent President Hamid Karzai refused to participate in the NATO summit, told Afghan News Agency (AfTAG).
According to the information, press secretary of the president of Afghanistan Imala Faizi, said that Karzai received an official invitation to the summit, but refused, saying that the interests of Afghanistan at the event will be presented by new head of state or government delegation.
NATO Summit, during which it is planned to resolve the question of the continued presence of foreign troops in Afghanistan, is scheduled for September 4-5 in Wales.
As we know, the reluctance of the incumbent president to sign a cooperation agreement with the United States in the field of security has become a major obstacle to the further planning of the NATO mission.
Current candidates for president - Abdullah Abdullah and Ashraf Ghani - promised to sign the agreement in the event of their election.
United States and NATO have repeatedly warned the Afghan side of the threat of a complete withdrawal of its troops from the country, but so far this problem has not been solved.
