Kazakh couple sentenced for signing up their 6 minor children to join extremist group in Syria

Astana. April 7. Silkroadnews – A couple fr om Kazakh Province of Atyrau is sentenced for signing up their 6 minor children to join extremist forces in Syria, as the local paper “Ak Zhaiyk reports.
“Zhylyoi District Court has sentenced a couple fr om the town of Kulsary for recruiting individuals to join extremist forces for terrorist activities. Recruited individuals – their own 6 minor children”, the newspaper reports.
The spouses got moved by the ideas of military jihad, as the Deputy Prosecutor of Zhylyoi District, Altyngul Ismagulova, informed.  Influenced by their relative who is a member of terrorist organization, they were preparing to leave to Syria, wh ere they would fight against the governmental forces. They received travel documents for themselves and their 6 children aged 4 to 14.
Being under the influence of their relative, who is currently in Syria, as the court materials indicated, the spouses were frequent visitors of extremist web pages. On the internet, they researched technical peculiarities of armaments and explosives. They actively educated their children on the issues of military jihad. At the same time, they stopped letting their children go to school, as they believed that teachers would not teach their kids anything good.
The spouses were proven guilty. The husband was sentenced for 5 years of imprisonment. The wife received a deferred sentence to be enforced after their children reach legal age.
