Kazakh Majilis approves amendments to law on Sino-Kazakh cooperation for construction of “Dostyk” hydrosystem

Astana. March 19. Silkroadnews – The Lower Chamber of Kazakh Parliament approved the law “On ratification of agreement between government of Republic of Kazakhstan and government of People’s republic of China on cooperation for construction of joint hydrosystem “Dostyk” on the river Khorgos”.
“The agreement stipulates that the parties are to manage construction of the joint hydrosystem on the Khorgos River on the respective sides of the border. The construction is to spread 24.5 km away from the Khorgos Border Control Point to each side. The parties will both own 50% of the joint hydrosystem. Both parties are investing 50% of the total construction cost to the project”,  the committee on international affairs, defence and security concludes.
The separate agreement is to be signed to regulate further management and exploitation of the hydrosystem.
