Kazakhstan and China to develop transcontinental transit
Almaty. May 19. Silkroadnews – As a result of 9th session of joint subcommittee on railway transport in Beijing, china and Kazakhstan decided to develop transcontinental railway transit of international freight.
It was discussed to increase transit via Dostyk-Alashankol and Altynkol – Khorgos route. The competitive tariff rates and estimated future transit volumes and conditions were also discussed. This included the issue of Kazakhstan coal export to China.
The parties also talked about the necessity to implement agreement on Silk Road economic belt. Transport and logistics companies of two countries are to be involved in implementation of the project.
It is also reported that the transit terminal construction at Eastern China’s port of Lianyungang is to start during President’s Nazarbayev scheduled visit to China.
