Astana. April 1. Silkroadnews – Kazakhstan is concerned about the activities of “destructive elements” in Afghanistan and will continue helping this country, as Adilbek Dzhaksybekov, the Minister of Defence says.
“Kazakhstan is concerned about acceleration of activities by destructive elements in that region (in Afghanistan). Those elements can infiltrate Central Asia and destabilise the situation”, the MoD Minister is quoted by his Press Office following the working session of SCO Defence Ministers.
Mister Dzhaksybekov has highlighted that finding solution to this problem is primarily within Afghanistan’s capabilities.
“Withdrawal of coalition forces from Afghanistan should not be the only reason to talk about Afghanistan. This country needs help. Therefore, Kazakhstan is set to continue supporting Afghanistan. Primarily, through social and educational programmes and projects as well as through humanitarian aid”, says the head of Kazakh MoD.
He stressed that Kazakhstan advocates for peaceful solutions by means of diplomatic effort and consultations that fully adhere to fundamental principles of international law and take into account interests of all the parties involved.
Mister Dzhaksybekov reckons that the prominence of “Peace Mission” Military exercise increases as those tendencies continue to exist, because the exercise shows The SCO’s joint commitment to fight extremism, separatism and terrorism.
SCO Ministers of Defence working session was held in Tajik city of Kayrakkum. Defence Ministers of Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan took part in this session. Uzbekistan was represented by its Deputy Defence Minister.
