Kazakhstan considers an option of building a road from the western region to the border with Turkmenistan

Almaty. April 10. Silkroadnews – Kazakhstan considers an option to build a road from Zhanaozen to the border with Turkmenistan, Minister for Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhenis Kasymbek reported, KazTAG writes.

“Reconstruction of 73km Zhetybai-Zhanaozen section is aimed to restore the international transit corridor Astrakhan-Atyrau-Turkmenistan’s border. This year we plan to consider this option with the Asian Bank (of Development – Silkroadnews) to start work between Zhetybay and Zhanaozen in September”, Z. Kasymbek said.

“In the long run we consider an option of building a road from Zhanaozen to the border with Turkmenistan”, he added.
