Kazakhstan has agreed with Uzbekistan on benefits for grain and flour exports transportation

Almaty. February 23. Silkroadnews – Kazakhstan has agreed with Uzbekistan on preferential tariffs for grain and flour export shipments, press-service of JSC “NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy”” (KTZ) reported.

Meeting between the senior manager of KTZ and JSC “Uzbekistan Temir Yollari” took place in Tashkent on February 22. The agenda included the issues of flexible tariff policy to increase cargo traffic, including the transit one.

“Agreements have been reached to grant discounts on tariffs for export transportation of Kazakhstani grain and flour, cargoes in Kazakhstani refrigerated 45-foot containers, transit through the territory of Kazakhstan for Uzbek fruits and vegetables and other agricultural products”, the statement said.

The parties also discussed the possibility of organizing the Uzbek export and import shipments through the ports of Aktau and Kuryk along the Trans-Caspian international transport route.

Following the negotiations between JSC “KTZ-Freight” and JSC “Uzbekistan Railways” the agreement has been signed on electronic data exchange for goods imported into the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, within the scope of the consignment note and accompanying commercial documents.

Last year the volume of cargo transportation by rail between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan amounted to 19 million tonnes.
