Kazakhstan invests USD 50 mln in Afghani students

Astana. March 31. Silkroadnews – Over the 4 years since the program on education of Afghani students in Kazakhstan was launched, USD 50 mln were invested in it. This was reported by the Department of Strategic Planning and Information Technology, Kazakh Ministry of Education and Science.
1 000 Afghan students are to receive education and training in the spheres of Healthcare, Agriculture, Law Enforcement, Humanities and Journalism, Border control, engineering and teaching within the framework of this program.
Apart from covering student tuition, the program also provides 1 year of Kazakh and Russian language foundation programs, takes care of student accommodation, holiday and travelling expenses and rovides students with spending money.
“638 Afghan studeNts have been admitted to Kazakh universities since 2010. The final admissions are to take place this coming year”, the Ministry reported.
As stipulated by the Intergovernmental agreement, upon graduation Afghani students are to return home.
