Kazakhstan invited China to settle the issue of transboundary underground waters

Almaty. May 23. Silkroadnews – Kazakhstan offered China to settle the issue of transboundary underground waters, Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Zhang Hanhui said, KazTAG writes.
“It is quite a complicated issue. There was a proposal from your side to add underground waters to river waters while solving water divide issue. We will study the groundwater question”, Zhang Hanhui said at the press conference in Astana on Tuesday.
The diplomat also emphasized “the highest level of mutual trust and understanding” between Kazakhstan and China.
“We have already agreed all the positions, there are the fundamental agreements achieved. This is in the first place. Secondly, we have already created a mechanism for consultations and negotiations on the watershed issue. Third: our specialists have already repeatedly contacted in this regard”, the ambassador said.
The Chinese side believes two friendly neighboring countries always can resolve such problems “based on sincerity, openness, transparency and friendship principle”.
“We can resolve these problems in the spirit of friendship. There are no problems. Indeed, China, especially the Chinese leadership, has already promised your leadership not to infringe upon the interests of Kazakhstan in regulating these issues”, Zhang Hanhui assured.
