As explained in the report, Tehran held a meeting of the Coordinating Council of the participating countries "Ashgabat agreement ", whose members are Oman, Iran, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The meeting was attended by the Kazakh delegation headed by the President of KTZ Askar Mamin.
In his speech, the head of the Kazakh delegation noted that by the territory of Kazakhstan pass major international transport corridors in the direction of North - South and East - West.
The development of the economies of China, Central Asia, Iran and other Persian Gulf countries creates an opportunity for reorientation of the freight traffic from the traditional sea route to land transcontinental routes.
A. Mamin also noted that Kazakhstan sees a great potential to attract additional freight traffic in the region of the Member States of the Ashgabat agreement.
Thus, the volume of rail transport agreements with countries of Ashgabat agreement in 2014 relative to 2013 increased by 2.3 million tons, or 10% more to 25 million tons of cargo.
In this case, more than 41% of the data traffic developed through Kazakhstan export cargoes bound for these countries and transit through their territories.
In the future, in 2020 the volume of traffic between Kazakhstan and the Ashgabat agreement can reach more than 40 million tons per year.
The head of the Kazakh delegation noted that in this regard, Kazakhstan attaches great importance to cooperation within the format of the "Ashgabat agreement" to create an international transport and transit corridor between Iran, Oman, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, and has high hopes for joining efforts in the development of transportation in the region .
