Kazakhstan plans to create energy saving fund

Almaty. May 16. Silkroadnews – This year the UN Development Programme and Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan plan to create a fund to attract investment in the energy-saving projects, website of the prime minister of Kazakhstan informs.

“We are working with the Ministry of Investment and Development to create a special financial instrument, namely an energy efficiency fund, that would finance various projects. Projects on waste will also be in view of the fund,” said Alexander Beliy, UNDP/GEF and RK Government Project Manager at the joint seminar “Challenges and opportunities of public-private partnership in the field of urban waste management”.

He stressed that the fund will provide such support measures as interest rate subsidizing and guarantees for loans. The World Bank will also take part in the establishment of the fund.
