Almaty. May 6. Silkroadnews – At the meeting in Akorda president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev announced moratorium on certain provisions of the land code caused a massive public outcry.

“I’ve made a decision: announce a moratorium on certain provisions (of the land code – Silkroadnews) that caused a massive public outcry, specifically four provisions introduced last year, till next year. Solve together with the parliament, come to agreement, in case consensus is found – we will lift the moratorium, otherwise – it will not be lifted,” Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the meeting yesterday.

He then assigned to create a committee on the land reform.
And noted that “we do not need the law that people do not like”.

“After lifting we shall explain how it will affect the agriculture, and, indeed, only people working in the fields know that, those sowing wheat and grazing cattle, not the asphalt shouters,” said the head of state.

KazTAG reminds, the amendments to the land code of the Republic of Kazakhstan have been adopted at the end of 2015. In particular, they provide the sale of agricultural land into private ownership, with this the foreigners and repatriates (Kazakhs-repatriates) could not get the land into private ownership but only in rent for 25 years.

According to the Kazakhstani mass-media, the unauthorized protest rallies “against the sale of the land” have been held in Atyrau, Aktau and Zhanaozen, Aktobe, Uralsk, Semey, Kyzylorda.
The president has stated the land issue has been raised by the “provocateurs”.
