Kazakhstan started to develop a feasibility study for construction of road to Cholpon-Ata

Almaty. February 3. Silkroadnews – Kazakhstan started developing a feasibility study for construction of “Cholpon-Ata – Almaty” road, Zhamshitbek Kalilov, Minister of Transport and Roads, reported, KyrTAG writes.

“Kazakhstan has started a feasibility study on construction of Cholpon-Ata – Almaty highway and searches for investors to work with in construction”, minister said at the meeting of “Onuguu-Progress” on Friday answering deputies’ questions.

He added, the shortest way from Cholpon-Ata to Almaty goes through the Kastek pass located at the altitude of 3200 m.

“During the negotiations the Kazakhstani and Kyrgyz sides decided the road will pass through the Kemin valley, in the area Ak Beyit. The bilateral protocol was signed last year in St. Petersburg. The total length of the road will be 120-130 km”, minister added.
