Almaty. March 1. Silkroadnews – Kazakhstan will become fully independent from import of petroleum products in 2019, such an opinion was expressed by Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev, KazTAG writes.

“After modernization of the refineries the oil processing volume is expected to raise from 14.5 million tonnes a year to 17.5 million tonnes, bringing increase in production of light oil, gasoline, diesel fuel and jet fuel. Thus, in 2019 we expect meeting the state’s domestic needs by the domestic petroleum products and plan to remove dependence on petroleum products imports”, K. Bozumbayev said on Wednesday.

“Yet, as modernization of both the Pavlodar and the Atyrau oil refineries to be completed in 2017, and the modernization of the Shymkent oil refinery is expected to be completed in 2018, this process of getting independent is to start from the beginning of 2018 and we will follow up this process very closely”, he added.

Earlier K.Bozumbaev reported that “by the middle of 2018 we will have to become a country, which fully meet its demand for oil products with domestic products of oil refining”.
