Kazakhstani and Chinese railway officials agreed to raise freight traffic volume by 33%

Almaty. March 3. Silkroadnews – Kazakhstani and Chinese railway officials agreed to raise the freight traffic volume by 33%, press service of JSC “NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy”” reports.

“The volume of transit and export-import freight traffic through the Kazakhstani-Chinese railway crossing Dostyk-Alashankou and Altynkol-Horgos is planned to raise 33% in 2017”, the statement says.

This year the mutual turnover between two states is expected to grow up to 10 million 990 thousand tonnes (8.3 million), with Kazakhstan’s exports amounting to 5.59 million tonnes, and import and transit from China projected to reach 5.4 million tonnes.

Participants of the meeting of Kazakhstan and China’s railways subgroup carried out in the framework of the meeting of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways summarized the performance results for 2016, agreed the traffic volumes for 2017 and quarterly freight traffic for each border crossing. Also, the railway authorities developed technical and organizational measures to implement the agreed volume of cargo transportation in 2017.
