Kazakhstani films to be shown at the international film festival in Beijing

Almaty. April 5. Silkroadnews – Films produced by “Kazakhfilm” studio named after Sh.Aimanov will be shown at the 7th Beijing International Film Festival, the press service of the film studio reports.

“The Beijing International Film Festival will be held in the capital of China on April 19-21. The movies by the “Kazakhfilm” studio named after Sh. Aimanov “Kunanbay” and “Nut Tree” will be shown within the “Panorama” program framework, the studio’s press-release informs.

15 films will be presented within the program. The Danish film director Bille August will head the competition jury of the festival.

As the press service reminds, the world premiere of the “Nut Tree” film was held in the framework of the 20th Pusan International Film Festival (the main prize in the section of New Currents, South Korea, 2015). The film also received two awards at the 22nd International Film Festival of Asian Cinema in Vesoul (France, 2016). The film shows life of a small aul in the south of Kazakhstan.

The general release of historical movie “Kunanbay” took place in December 2015. The film tells about the life of Kunanbay Oskenbayuly. The movie took the first national film award “Tulpar", the award of Amir Abdrazakov at the III International Festival of National and Ethnic Cinema “Silver Akbuzat”.
