Kiev and Tehran explore the cooperation to deliver Iranian oil to the Ukrainian and European refineries
Almaty. August 25. Silkroadnews – Ukraine and Iran explore the cooperation to deliver Iranian oil to the Ukrainian and European refineries, Trend reports.
«At present the Ministry together with the Iranian side is studying the possibility to deliver Iranian oil to meet the needs of Ukrainian refineries as well as the ones of refineries located in Central and Eastern Europe», Trend quotes a source in the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry.
The details of the negotiations, in particular those concerning the route of Iranian oil supplies or project's economic indicators, are not disclosed.
Earlier «Ukrtransnafta» (national pipeline operator providing transportation of crude oil to refineries in Ukraine and transit to European states) announced readiness to use its transportation infrastructure to organize the Iranian oil transit to Central and Eastern European markets, as well as deliver raw materials for processing at the domestic market.
This issue was at the agenda of the meeting held between Director General of OJSC «Ukrtransnafta» Nikolai Gavrilenko and Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh in Tehran in August.
After removal of sanctions Iran rapidly ramps up oil production.
Currently the country's daily oil output amounts to 3.7 million barrels.
