Kyrgyz firefighters get burns due to shabby condition of their uniforms

Bishkek. June 2. Silkroadnews – Firefighters get burns while performing their duties, because Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations does not have money to provide them with modern uniforms. Kyrgyz Minister of Emergency Situations Kubatbek Boronov complained about this during the Ministry’s collegiate last Saturday.
“Our firefighters still wear uniforms we have left from the Soviet era. Our people get burns themselves when they are rescuing others. As for the other equipment, it is also very old. There is not enough equipment either”, he said.
The Minister said that the biggest problem for the Ministry is inability to provide its employees with council housing.
“One of the biggest challenges for now is to provide our employees with council housing. Border control officers have recently received keys from the new apartments. However, we are not covered by this program. Although we also constitute military forces”, the Minister appealed to Deputy PM Abdyrakhman Mamataliyev.
