Kyrgyzstan abolished the military courts

Almaty. December 27. Silkroadnews –  Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev signed the law “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Kyrgyz Republic” abolishing the military courts, KyrTAG writes.

As the document specifies, the military courts are to be abolished due to “incomparable financial expenditures on the military courts keeping as compared to the outcomes of their operation”.

Thus, in 2015 the local courts budget amounted to 724 million 973 thousand 500 som (for staff of 387 local judges), while the military court budget totaled 24 million 445 thousand 300 som (for staff of 14 military judges).

With a breakdown of the overall costs of the budget: the cost of keeping a work by one judge of the local court makes approximately 1 million 873 thousand 317 som, with the cost of keeping a work by one judge of the military court making 1 million 746 thousand 93 som.

Law comes into force on the date of publication.
