Kyrgyzstan offers to avoid an increase of tariffs for electricity by raising the cost of connection to the power grid

Almaty. February 25. Silkroadnews - Kyrgyzstan offers to avoid the tariff increase by raising the cost of connection to the power grid, reports KyrTAG referring to a member of the Board of Directors of JSC "Severelectro" Saparbek Argymbaev.
"To ensure the money of the energy sector we shall unse non-tarriff way. In Bishkek capacity of 20 thousand kilowatt costs 1200 som. In other countries people pay $400-700 per 1 kW of power, and we have 1200 soms for any power, which actually spends on paperwork"-, said S.Argymbaev.
According to him, there also shadow payments for connection, which could be eliminated and introduced as a the new payment.
"In 2011-2013 the goverment granted permission to connect 351 thousand kW. If the average would pay $100 per kW, the payments would amount to $35 million, which could be used to improve infrastructure",- he added.
