Kyrgyzstan plans to establish cooperation with the EU

Almaty. July 14. Silkroadnews – Kyrgyzstan hopes to sign an agreement on cooperation with the European Union, KyrTAG reports.

“Kyrgyzstan needs to strengthen relations with the EU. As far as I know, Armenia negotiates on an agreement with the EU. There is also an agreement between Kazakhstan and the EU. I really hope that we will enter into agreement similar to one between Kazakhstan and the EU. We are eager to achieve that,” Kyrgyzstan’s President Almazbek Atambayev said at the final press conference after meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Thursday.

Meanwhile, A. Merkel promised to Kyrgyzstan to develop peaceful Islam and support SMEs and development of tourism.

“Kyrgyzstan has some economic problem. Yet Germany is ready to help in the development of small and medium-sized businesses and tourism sector. There are also certain projects in the field of education and health care. Some projects will also be considered in the field of business. We wanted peaceful Muslims to have a support,” she said.

These days German Chancellor Angela Merkel pays official visit to Bishkek.
