Almaty. June 15. Silkroadnews – Kyrgyzstan proposes to establish a single labor union of the EEU to protect the migrant workers’ rights, deputy chairman of the migration department of the Kyrgyz Republic Almaz Asanbaev said, KyrTAG reports.

“The local human rights organizations pay no attention to the problem of migrant workers in the EEU. Within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Commission the trade union organizations’ approaches are needed. We need to restore the migrants’ confidence in labor unions. For this reason, Kyrgyzstan proposed to establish a labor union within the Eurasian Economic Union,” A. Asanbaev said at the public council meeting.

He added, it is quite often when the workers arriving from other countries are left without any protection in the host country. Sometimes the host countries’ labor union organizations even carry on propaganda against the migrant workers.

“Labor unions step back from labor migration completely. The situation can be corrected in case a strong labor union is organized within the Eurasian Economic Union. This initiative is raised by Kyrgyzstan. Our proposals in this regard have been submitted to the EEU committee,” A. Asanbaev said.
