Kyrgyzstan’s former secretary of state is accused of attempted seizure of power in the country

Almaty. March 29. Silkroadnews - Kyrgyzstan’s state committee for national security brings charges against Dastan Sarygulov, Kyrgyzstan’s former secretary of state, accusing him of the attempted seizure of power in the country, KyrTAG reports.

According to the public relations and media department of the state committee for national security, on March 28, 2016, year D. Sarygulov was called to the state committee for national security, and after “the investigative actions on the basis of the evidence collected” “conducted with his participation” he was charged on article 27 and article 295 “preparation for crime” and “preparation for the violent seizure of power or forcible retention of power” of the Criminal Code.

“The Pervomaiskiy district court of Bishkek has resolved to impose the preventive measure in the form of home arrest,” the statement says.

As KyrTAG notes, D. Sarygulov used to serve as a secretary of state under president Kurmanbek Bakiyev, who ruled the country in 2005-2010.

Earlier three other politicians were detained for an attempt to seize power in Kyrgyzstan: the former governor of the Jalal-Abad province Bektur Asanov, the leader of the political party “Chyndyk” Kubanychbek Kadyrov and the opposition leader Ernest Karybekov. According to the court, they were taken into custody for two months and shall remain in the temporary detention facility of the state committee for national security.

Another suspect within the criminal case under investigation is a citizen of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Duulatbek Turdunaliyev, whose location has not been traced yet (he has been put on the wanted list).
The investigation of the criminal case against the conspirators has been sanctioned by the court and the prosecutor general of the Kyrgyz Republic.
