Kyrgyzstan’s internal affairs bodies have been put on a higher degree of readiness after the Aktobe events

Almaty. June 7. Silkroadnews – Kyrgyzstan’s ministry of internal affairs put the republic’s bodies of internal affairs on a higher degree of combat readiness due to activation of terrorist organizations in the Aktobe region of Kazakhstan, ministry’s website informs.

“Due to activation of terrorist and extremist organizations on the territory of the Aktobe region of the Republic of Kazakhstan resulted in an armed attack on the military and guarded objects and hostage-taking, with dead and injured reported, the order “On urgent measures to ensure appropriate public order and security and control of sensitive objects and facilities in the Kyrgyz Republic” has been issued. According to the order, as of June 6, 2016, all the personnel of the republic’s internal affairs shall be put on an “increased” level of readiness until further order,” the ministry of internal affairs reported.

As a part of the order the measures will be taken to strengthen the control of sensitive objects and facilities of special importance, high-threat locations and vital infrastructure, authorization systems, governing bodies, public gathering places and major retail facilities.

Ministry also notes raising the internal affairs agencies’ effectiveness shall be carried out due to the meeting of the council of CIS heads of governments to be held in Bishkek today, on June 7.

To remind, on June 5 in Aktobe 26 people attacked armorer shops “Pallada” and “Panther”, and military base #6655. During the attack the shop salesman and security guard have been killed in one store, also one of the visitors was killed at the second store. The security guard and a second visitor have been wounded. Three police officers got gunshot wounds, also during night detention some of police officers got light wounds. Three militaries (officer, voluntary recruit and conscript soldier) have been killed and six soldiers have been wounded.  

According to the interior ministry, 12 criminals have been eliminated, 6 wounded and another 6-7 criminals are on the wanted list.

“Red” level of terrorist threat has been imposed in Aktobe. “Yellow” regime of the terrorist threat has been imposed over the republic for 40 days.

President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has taken the situation in Aktobe under his personal control.
