Bishkek. April 17. Silkroadnews – “Kyrgyzstan has 3rd lowest crime rate in CIS. There are just 47 crimes for every 10 000 people. In comparison, Russia has 154 crimes for every 10 000 people, while Kazakhstan has 209”, Kyrgyz Prosecutor General, Aida Salyanova, said in her speech to MPs.
However, she doesn’t think the Kyrgyz statistics reflect the current state of affairs.
“It tells us that not al of our citizens report crimes to law enforcement bodies. Hence, our police is not able file it”, Salyanova explains.
She says neighbouring Kazakhstan has a much higher crime rate, as crimes are reported significantly better there.
