Kyrgyzstan to toughen laws on coercion to become prostitute

Bishkek. May 21. Silkroadnews – Kyrgyzstan aims to toughen its laws on coercion to become a prostitute. The subsequent draft law “On amendments to Criminal Code of Kyrgyz Republic” has been approved by the MPs.
According to the amendment, coercion to become a prostitute is to be fined by USD 5 800 – USD 9 650 (300 000 – 500 000 Kyrgyz soms). It can alternatively be punishable by 3-5 years of imprisonment. Once organised crime is involved, coercion to become a prostitute is punishable by 5 to 8 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
