The work of the Kazakh-Chinese transport and logistics terminal in the port city of Lianyungang is aimed at increasing the export-import and transit potential of Kazakhstan by rail, providing the shortest way to the Asia-Pacific and South-East Asia, contributing to the development of trade relations in the region. The terminal creates the possibility of transit of these countries in Central Asia, the Gulf States, Russia, the Caucasus region and Europe via the territory of Kazakhstan.
In addition, this project is an example of the new Kazakh policy "Nurly Jol" which contributes to economic development of Silk Road Belt by the President Xi Jinping.
