Macron calls on Rouhani to promote peace in Eastern Ghouta

Beijing. March 5. Silkroadnews - French President Emmanuel Macron called on his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani, to work on Damascus to end attacks in Eastern Ghouta, the Iranian Telegraph Agency (IrTAG) reports.
France’s president urged the Iranian president to put the necessary pressure on the Syrian government to end killing people in Eastern Ghouta, TASS cited information provided by the Elysee Palace. The French side also considers it necessary to ensure access to humanitarian assistance and evacuation of the wounded.
Macron pointed to Tehran’s responsibility on its contacts with Damascus on facilitating the humanitarian truce as provided by the UN Security Council decisions. Macron and Rouhani confirmed their intention to “work together” to ensure delivery of humanitarian aid and cease-fire.
France expects Iran to contribute to settlement of crises in the Middle East. Macron and Rouhani agreed that these issues should be on the agenda during the Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian’s visit to Tehran on Monday.
