Beijing. February 12. Silkroadnews - More than 11 thousand km of roads to be built in Tibet in 2018, Tibet Online portal reports.
“In 2018, the region's transportation department will implement the central government's investment of 20 billion yuan and complete a fixed-asset investment of 68 billion yuan. 6,000 kilometers of new roads will be put in use, increasing the total length to 96,000 kilometers. And 5,393 kilometers of national and provincial roads as well as 6,000 kilometers of rural roads will be built,” the report reads.
Over the next three years, the region will make continuous efforts to build rural roads in extremely poor areas. In some areas along the roads, emergency supply stations will also be built.
By 2020, Tibet plans to complete an investment of 238.8 billion yuan, and the total length of its road network will reach 110,000 kilometers.
In 2017, Tibet has already made great strides in transport development, investing 56.9 billion yuan, including 35 major highway and 1337 rural road projects.
Six high-level roads, including the Lhasa-Nyingchi road, have been opened ahead of schedule.
