Almaty. October 23. Silkroadnews - Nearly 400 trucks have been gathered at “Ak Tilek” checkpoint on the Kyrgyz-Kazakhstani border; situation at the other checkpoints got normalized, the Kyrgyz Telegraph Agency (KyrTAG) reported with reference to press service of the State Border Service on Monday.
“Currently the situation is stable, there are no queues of vehicles and people at the checkpoints “Ak Zhol” and “Chon Capka”. Nearly 400 vehicles had been gathered at “Ak Tilek” checkpoint that mainly passes trucks,” press service of the State Border Service reported.
“Kazakhstani colleagues pass around 8 trucks per hour, which is quite good operation reading, given the fact that a week ago one vehicle was passed in an hour only,” the ministry explained.
To remind, the problems on the Kyrgyz-Kazakhstani border started on October 10, following the criticism of the Kazakhstani authorities by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Almazbek Atambayev. On October 11, Kazakhstan strengthened control regime at the border. The situation has improved after October 19 and negotiations between the heads of the governments of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
