Nearly $800 thousand will be invested into riverbeds cleaning and banks stabilization in Uzbekistan

Almaty. June 9. Silkroadnews – Uzbekistan allocates around 23 billion som ($783.799 thousand) to carry out works on cleaning riverbeds, stabilization of banks and other protective measures, Uzbek Telegraph Agency (UzTAG) reports.

As reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the works are carried out to prevent emergencies involving dangerous hydro-meteorological and geological phenomena. At present, the territorial divisions of the ministry of emergency situations and “Uzhydromet” officials working together with the khokimiyats (local administrations) have studied areas of possible activations of mudflows, floods and landslides.

The states of reservoirs and other hydraulic structures are also being checked in terms of their readiness for spring-summer flood waters accident-free reception and passage.

According to the results of the work there is a plan of measures developed on riverbeds cleaning, banks stabilization and other engineering and protective works to be carried out.

Six aerial visual surveys have been conducted to study the state of high-mountain lakes, snow covers, as well as to monitor dangerous areas of possible mudflows, avalanches.
