Almaty. September 14. Silkroadnews – Nine people were killed in an explosion at a coal mine in northern China, Euronews reported.
“An explosion late on Wednesday at a small coal mine in China’s northern province of Heilongjiang killed nine workers,” the report says with reference to the official Xinhua News Agency.
It is explained that the incident occurred in the city of Jixi, at the Yuchen coal mine, which capacity makes 60,000 tonnes per year.
As noted, “the latest accident follows an announcement by China’s State Council on Aug. 31 to launch a new round of safety checks at coal mines and chemical plants starting in September after injuries during an incident at a state-owned coal mine in August.”
According to China’s National Statistics Bureau, coal production in China fell to a 10-month low in August, presumably due to the fact that the mines reduced production following a number of major accidents.
