Number of China and Iran’s tourists visiting St. Petersburg increased in 2017

Almaty. August 17. Silkroadnews – Number of China and Iran’s tourists visiting St. Petersburg increased in 2017, Russian TV channel “Питер ТВ” reported.
Number of Chinese tourists visiting Russia’s Northern capital has almost doubled since last year. Number of vacationers coming from Iran grew 70%, and from the U.S. – by 40%. The Committee on Tourism Development released the results of the first half of 2017. 4.1 million tourists visited the city during these six months, including 1.9 million citizens of other countries. China ranks the first in terms of the number of tourists visiting the northern capital. A quarter (500 thousand) of all the international tourists comes from there. The flow of visitors from this direction has doubled in a year, the report said.
Number of tourists from Iran grew nearly 70%, from India and Canada – around 30%, from the U.S. – 40%, though number of tourists from Finland decreased 25%.
Major events and celebrations are said to contribute to growth in flow of tourists in St. Petersburg.
