Number of members of Communist Party of China has reached almost 90 million people

Beijing. July 2. Silkroadnews – As of the end of 2017, the Communist Party of China (CPC) had 89.56 million members and 4.57 million primary party organizations, the Organization department of the CPC Central Committee reported, Sina.com writes.
The number of members of the CPC and primary-level party organizations increased by 117,000 and 53,000 from 2016, respectively.
The growth rate of CPC membership has remained below 1.5% since 2013, when the party introduced the principle of recruitment to improve the quality of its members.
In 2017, the CPC recruited 1.98 million new members, which is 71,000 more than in 2016, including 1 million members working in frontline production roles, accounting for 50.8% of all new members.
Among these new members, 860,000 people or 43.4% have higher education at the college level of above, and 1.61 million people, or 81.4%, who were aged 35 or younger.
At the end of 2017, almost 43.29 million party members had a higher education or an academic degree, representing 48.3% of the total membership. Almost 23.89 million, or 26.7%, of party members were female members. More than 6.51 million party members, or 7.3%, were representatives of national minorities.
Among the secretaries of the Party’s village committees, 545,000 people had a higher education or a degree, which is 17.4%.
The coverage of state bodies by the Party organizations is 99.7%, with 95.2 percent in public institutions and 92.8 percent in state-owned enterprises. According to the department, about 1.88 million non-public enterprises have set up Party organizations, the report reads.
On July 1, 2018, the Communist Party of China celebrated its 97th anniversary.
