Almaty. September 22. Silkroadnews – The state of 74% of the public places objects of Kazakhstan can be characterized as a poor one for purposes of protection from terrorists, Andrey Kravchenko, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan, stated, KazTAG writes.

«If consider the objects vulnerable against the terrorist threat, we had checked almost 5 thousand of public places, 74% of them are quite in a poor condition in terms of protection. There is no guarantee the services and/or security agencies operating at those places could ensure the prevention of terrorist threats», A. Kravchenko said on Thursday during a roundtable on the legislative and institutional measures aimed to prevent and combat extremism and terrorism.

According to him, «this all points to the need to tighten these objects' activities and strengthen the responsibility of their owners for failure to comply with anti-terrorism legislation. All this is the basis of those measures included into the legislative draft («On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of Kazakhstan on countering extremism and terrorism» – Silkroadnews)».

He also added, a broad discussion was caused by the amendments aimed at tightening the turnover of
non-military weapons and liability of those objects vulnerable to terrorist threats, and noted, the attacks in Aktobe pointed to serious weaknesses in operation of the stores selling the non-military weapons.

«After the events mentioned the audits and checks have been carried out through the points of sale of non-military weapons. In 50% of these stores the auditors revealed the violations in such stores' operating», A. Kravchenko said.
