Over 80 people sentenced for terrorism and extremism in Kazakhstan in 2013

Astana. April 9. Silkroadnews – Over 80 were sentenced for terrorism and extremism in Kazakhstan in 2013, as General Prosecutor’s office reports.
“38 criminal cases with 83 defenders were forwarded to court in relation to terrorist and extremist activities. The number of those proven guilty has significantly declined compared to 2012 (127 individuals), the Press document states.
The centre for security programs has managed to come up with a portrait of a terrorist after a thorough social analysis.
“It is an unemployed 28 year old individual, who has a high school degree or equivalent. No special religious schooling. He is married and has several children”, the message explains.
“Within the framework of national legal basis and Criminal code modernisation, the charges for setting up and participating in terrorist groups are being toughened up”, the message also states.
