Beijing. May 15. Silkroadnews - Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed on a mechanism for formal and bilateral dialogue and setting six joint working groups to discuss all the key issues, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
Both sides have completed the development of the Afghanistan Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS), a joint action plan for cooperation in key areas of counter-terrorism and reduction of violence and promotion of peace and reconciliation, including repatriation of refugees and joint economic development, a joint statement on the results of the bilateral talks said.
Six joint working groups will be formed to implement the seven principles agreed upon at the meeting between Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in Kabul last month, Xinhua reports.
Both sides agreed to take effective measures against fugitives and irreconcilable elements, posing a security threat for both sides. Both countries also committed to deny use of their territories by any country, network, group or individuals for anti-state activities against either country.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Hekmat Khalil Karzai led the fourth APAPPS meeting, and the Pakistani delegation was headed by Pakistanэs Foreign Minister Tehmina Janjua.
“APAPPS provides a framework to strengthen mutual trust and deepen interaction in all spheres of bilateral engagements. It is also a mechanism for finding solutions to bilateral areas of concern,” the joint statement reads.
Both sides also agreed that the effective and full implementation of APAPPS will contribute to the achievement of the common goals of eliminating terrorism and achieving peace, stability, prosperity and development of two countries.
