“The China-Pakistan economic corridor relates to Pakistan’s future development; the construction of this corridor has changed and changes the unfavorable situation in the country which experiences difficulties in investments attraction, a serious shortage of energy resources and transport infrastructure”, Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of Planning, Development and Reform of Pakistan, said.

Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong added, this analytical center is expected to meet the needs of the corridor development and help enterprises and individuals from Pakistan to benefit from the development of the corridor.

The center will operate under the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform of Pakistan. Its task will be to study the economic corridor’s impact on the social and economic development of Pakistan, assess trade and industrial cooperation within the economic corridor, explore regional cooperation, financial development, employment, human resources development, and urban development.

To remind, in August 2016 China and Pakistan agreed to boost construction of the China-Pakistan economic corridor.
The China-Pakistan economic corridor is a $46-billion worth infrastructure project, with funds invested by China. The project framework suggests connection of the Pakistani southwestern port city of Gwadar with the Chinese Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region through a wide network of roads and railways.
