Parliamentary elections in Afghanistan postponed for a year due to security concerns
Almaty. October 25. Silkroadnews – Parliamentary and provincial elections in Afghanistan have been postponed until next year for security concerns, representatives of the presidential palace’s press service reported, AfTAG writes.
The nation’s leadership has announced that the elections once again postponed until next year and the details on the time frame will be determined by a new of election commissions not appointed yet.
“First of all it is necessary to eliminate the enemies of Afghanistan, to ensure secure elections. We make our efforts in this direction, thus, still there is a hope the elections will be conducted next year”, President Ghani’s deputy spokesperson Dawa Khan Menapal said.
Formally, the term of the current parliament expired back in June 2015, but voting has been postponed for a long time.
