Peasants of Sogd in Tajikistan overfulfilled their plans to pick cotton

Almaty. October 24. Silkroadnews – Peasants of the Sogd region in Tajikistan have overfulfilled their plans on cotton harvesting, the Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reports on Tuesday with reference to the Sogd department of agriculture.
This season the region’s cotton growers committed to gather 95,000 tonnes of cotton. As of October 23, the actual volume gathered amounted to 96 thousand 969 tonnes, or 102.1% of the yield forecast. This year Tajikistan planned to gather 354 thousand tonnes of raw cotton on the area of 174 thousand 495 hectares of land.
In 2016 more than 162.5 thousand hectares of land were sown by cotton. In particular, over 155.5 thousand hectares of land in the Khatlon region, around 44.2 hectares in Sogd region and more than 2.8 thousand hectares in the districts of the republican subordination allocated for the cropper.
