Almaty. May 8. Silkroadnews - On Iranian Island Kharg in the Persian Gulf completed the construction of four oil storage tanks with a capacity of 1 million barrels of oil each, informed the Iranian News Agency (IrTAG) on Friday.
As noted in the publication, with the commissioning of the reservoirs, storage capacity of Iran's crude oil reached 28 million barrels, an increase of 16%. For comparison, in the early 2000s the country's strategic oil reserves amounted to only 7 million barrels per day.
The project took 4 years.
Terminal "Kharg", which was built on the territory of new vessels, is the largest oil hub of Iran. According to some estimates, more than 90% of exports of Iranian oil and petroleum products accounted for this terminal. It is located on the same island in the Persian Gulf in 55 km from the port city of Bushehr.
