Almaty. June 13. Silkroadnews – The power transmission lines assets in CASA-1000 project will belong to the transmission companies operating in the participating countries, Tajik Telegraph Agency (TajikTA) reports on Monday.
“The power transmission lines assets in CASA-1000 project will belong to the transmission companies operating in the participating countries, which are Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan,” the World Bank informs.
According to the report, the four countries will choose an international company for operation and maintenance of high-voltage transmission system for inter-country coordination to manage the supervisory power distribution, electricity metering, technical failures, etc.
The national companies engaged in the transmission of electricity will operate and maintain the AC facilities in their territories.
CASA-1000 project was reported to provide for the construction of high-voltage transmission line connecting the energy systems of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Afghanistan and Pakistan to export electricity by the Central Asian countries and develop the appropriate instruments for electricity trade mechanisms meeting the international standards.
Available exports volume, which implementation is scheduled for 2016-2017, makes about 5.5 billion kW/h. The length of the CASA-1000 shall make 750 km; the total project cost is estimated at $1 billion.
The project’s opening ceremony took place in Tajikistan on May 12, 2016.
