Preliminary data shows, Sooronbay Jeenbekov wins presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan with more than 54% of vote
Almaty. October 16. Silkroadnews – Preliminary data state, Sooronbay Jeenbekov gains more than 54% of votes in the presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyz Telegraph Agency (KyrTAG) reports with reference to the head of the CEC of Kyrgyzstan Nurzhan Shayldabekova.
“As of 10.00 a.m. the total number of voters across the country reached 1.668 million people, or 56%. The central server has already received data from 97% of polling stations. According to our information, Sooronbay Jeenbekov wins with 54.23% of the vote, followed by Omurbek Babanov (33.45% of votes) and Adakhan Madumarov (6, 41%), Temir Sariev (2.54%),” the head of the CEC said.
Voters turnout made was 57.86% in Bishkek, 54.57% in Issyk-Kul oblast, 55.51% in Naryn oblast, 58.83% in Osh region, 61.05% in Talas oblast, 51.12% in Chui region, 52.1% in Batken region, 25.27% abroad and 68.14% in the city of Osh.
“Elections can be considered valid, there were very few violations. The final results to be summed up after the manual vote counting though,” N. Shayldabekova added.
Kyrgyzstan carried out presidential elections. 2 338 polling stations were set across the state. Another 37 were opened outside the country. The register of voters included 3.025 million citizens.
A candidate winning over 50% of the votes in the first round is considered elected.
The newly elected president of Kyrgyzstan should take the oath in 30 days after the voting results announcement.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov, 58, ex-prime minister of Kyrgyzstan, left his post to take part in presidential elections.
