Premier of the State Council of China and the US president agreed to continue close coordination and effective cooperation

Almaty. September 21. Silkroadnews – Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Keqiang met with the US President Barack Obama in New York, «Xinhua» agency writes.

Li Keqiang said the strengthening of China-US relations meets the fundamental interests of the two countries people and the common aspiration of the international community. China is ready to continue to work together with the US to expand cooperation in the bilateral format as well as at the regional and global levels. The point in case is, in particular, about practical cooperation in trade, economic, military, law enforcement, anti-terrorism and humanitarian fields, as well as in the area of cybersecurity.

Li Keqiang urged the two sides to strengthen coordination on such important international issues as the nuclear issue of the Korean peninsula and climate change and facilitate further the progress achhieved at the G20 Hangzhou Summit to give new impetus to sustainable, healthy and stable development of bilateral relations.

In addition, he reiterated the Chinese side's position on issues concerning Taiwan and Tibet, calling the official Washington to consider the relevant issues in a due manner.

In his turn, Obama said the US supports the Chinese reform and hope for progress in bilateral negotiations on the investment agreement. He also reaffirmed the US administration's commitment on One-China policy.

The heads of the states exchanged views on such global issues as the progressive development, migration crisis and peacekeeping operations, having agreed to continue close coordination and effective cooperation to provide more public goods for the international community.
