Beijing. June 7. Silkroadnews - President Ashraf Ghani said the ongoing threats Afghanistan faces at present are not confined to one country alone. He called China the pillar of the international peace and stability and said that Beijing should play a more active role in stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan and the region, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AITAG) reported.
“China today is a pillar of global stability. China has taken a huge role in making the stability of the global economy possible, and of course, with a series of initiatives, the most important of which is the One Belt One Road,” Ghani said. He noted, the existing threats Afghanistan runs into are not confined to a single country and that the states of the region should come to a common understanding of these threats.
"First of all, we need to come to a common understanding of threats. These threats are not limited to one country. We need to understand that no country is not safe from these threats,” he said at the time when the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces are trying to suppress the Taliban insurgency in at least 14 provinces throughout the country.
Taking a huge role in making the stability of the global economy possible, China, in opinion of Ghani can play an effective role in curbing the scale of violence in the country.
“Currently, security forces are leading operations in 14 provinces. Situation in Ghazni and Faryab provinces has now changed and the situation is improving there,” spokesperson for the Interior Ministry of Afghanistan Najib Danish said.
Meanwhile, a number of legislators in the lower house of parliament of Afghanistan said the Afghan government needs to outline more comprehensive programs for areas under threat to overcome the current crisis.
