President of Afghanistan has declared end of truce with Taliban
Beijing. July 2. Silkroadnews - Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has declared the end of truce with the radical Taliban movement, the Afghan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG) reports.
With this he stressed, the temporary ceasefire demonstrated the country’s readiness to resolve the conflict, Tolo news channel reported on Saturday citing the speech by the president.
Gani also noted, the Taliban movement members want peace and the ceasefire regime has proved they are tired of the war. At the same time, the nation has shown they are ready for peace. Thus, the efforts to reach peace are continuing, the President of Afghanistan underlined.
To remind, on June 7, the President of Afghanistan announced an introduction of a unilateral ceasefire with the Taliban. In turn, the Taliban announced a three-day truce, which began on June 15. Two days later, the Government of Afghanistan extended the ceasefire. However, the Taliban announced they no longer intend to respect the truce declared by Kabul and on June 17 resumed military operations.
It is worth noting, until June 30 the security forces were forced to deal only with unaggressive defense and for this suffered extensive losses.
