Qatar restored diplomatic relations with Iran

Almaty. August 24. Silkroadnews – Qatar restored diplomatic relations with Iran, the US newspaper Columbia Basin Herald reported.
“Qatar restored full diplomatic relations with Iran early Thursday, disregarding the demands of Arab nations now locked in a regional dispute with the energy-rich country that lessen its ties to Tehran”, the report said.
With this Qatar’s Foreign Ministry announced that the ambassador of the country would return to Tehran.
The publication reminds, Qatar recalled its ambassador in early 2016 after the execution of a prominent Shiite spiritual leader in Saudi Arabia and the subsequent attack on the Saudi embassy in Tehran.
According to the report, “the state of Qatar expressed its aspiration to strengthen bilateral relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all fields”.
It is also noted that Qatar and Iran share vast offshore natural gas reserves development of which require normal relations between the two countries.
