Almaty. September 3. Silkroadnews - Terrorist group "Dayesh" does not represent a serious threat to Central Asia. This was stated by Assistant Secretary of Defense for security in the Asia-Pacific region David Shire, reports KazTAG.
"We are closely monitoring the activities of the IS in Afghanistan. At the moment, they do not pose any systemic threat. The threat is very limited and we note that the members of this group - are mostly members of the Taliban, who have left the organization for any reason", - said D. Shire at a press conference in Astana on Thursday.
"And we struggle with ISIL together with the Afghan National Security Forces so that they did not represent any threat to Afghanistan or other countries in Central Asia", - he added.
However, he expressed concern about the potential threat for the spread of "Dayesh" out of Iraq and Syria.
According to him, the US and Kazakhstan share information about the activities of "Dayesh".
