Railway "Iran-Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan" was put into operation

Almaty. December 3. Silkroadnews - Presidents of Iran, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan officially put into operation the international railway line connecting these three states.
The total length of railway line is 686 km, in Kazakhstan - 146 km, Turkmenistan - 470 km, Iran - 70 km.
As previously reported, the route opens up the possibility for handling 10 million tonnes of cargo. The upcoming commissioning of branches from Zhanaozen-Kyzylgaya-Bereket-Gorgan-Etrek will expand trade and economic cooperation of Kazakhstan with the Gulf countries, South and South-East Asia and Africa.
The agreement on the construction of highways was signed by the heads of the three states in 2007. Construction work began in 2009. The Kazakh side path on the site was fully completed in November 2011.
